How did you come up with the name of your company?
The name Juuty originates from the Bengali word for “connect” and “focus”. Juuty wants to connect Bangladesh in a positive way to the rest of the world by focusing on sustainable fashion produced in a fairtrade environment. In a playful way, Juuty refers to the main material used for its bags: jute. Juuty is the first company in the world that uses a newly developed type of jute. The jute of Juuty is extremely durable, smell free and soft. The eccentric fibre is one of the most environmentally friendly fibers in the world.
What does “sustainable fashion” mean to you?
Sustainable fashion for Juuty is the sum of:
– production in an audited fair trade environment and improving local welfare
– sharing resources, experiences and knowledge with colleagues-competitors resulting in a more sustainable final product
– using (as much as possible) 100% sustainable organic or vegan material
– being creative
